Dear Anonymous,
I am not sure who you are, where you are, if you really are an elite group of infamous, unstoppable computer hackers or just geeky technophiles who invented some ominous hype word that became trendier than the 80’s and is now being utilized all over the world by any nut job with a cause. But I am with you on this one: #OpPapparazzi – And thought the world could use a refresher on this mission.
We are Still Fighting for the Future as well and think #OpPaparazzi is a brilliant idea. Let’s hold the police officers accountable for their actions and start using the technology and resources at our fingertips to unite and create change. Let’s apply this to politicians as well; there should be a camera in every congressional and senate office we employ (yes, you employ all public servants, it’s part of what your tax dollars pay for) and hold every public servant accountable for their actions with complete transparency.
And here is where the hater steps in.
We have a bigger issue here though, Mr. & Mrs. Anonymous, and that is getting the people to snap out of their reality TV-induced comas and become aware of the dire state of our nation. That is asking a lot (again, YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE PAYING THESE PEOPLES SALARIES) and that people really can make change in government. Most people gave up on “hope” as soon as Obama got elected and are now mooooving quickly into a catatonic cattle-like state prime for the herding. Doped up on McDonalds, cable television, Facebook (a small tinge of guilt), Angry Birds, the Kardashians, text messaging, Budweiser, and Prozac, these people are far too entertained with all that intellectual stimulation to actually be aware of their surroundings. Besides, who wants to deal with the shitty reality of our world when we can waste time watching the fabulously scripted reality of another or create a whole new life online? I am not sure America is up for the challenge. The idealistic side of me wants to believe I am wrong. So kudos to Anonymous (even if you are geeky technophiles) for taking action and creating awareness of, at least, the possibilities. I have always said all we can do is lead by example. Make no mistake America, we are stuck in a downward-spiraling Matrix, except there are no special effects and there are no ruby red slippers to magically whisk us back to better days. Make no mistake “Anonymous can only do sooo much…How many of us are willing to stand up”?

BTW, America: If you are reading this and are feeling all activisty and stuff, stop farming your online corn fields (you do realize you will never be able to eat that stuff, right?) and become aware.
